MY NAME
Hosea Saputro Handoyo, what does it mean? For some people, especially my family, name could indicate the personality of the person. Well, at some points, I do believe that. 
- Hosea (Hebrew) means “Salvation of/is the Lord” from the Bible (Old Testament). In Christianity, Hosea is a king, leader, mentor, and prophet. Joshua, Jeshua, and Jesus originate from Hosea;
- Saputro (Javanese) means the first (sa-) son (-putro);
- Handoyo means from the family of Handoyo (patrilineal system).
SPIRITUAL CONTEMPLATIONS
For some people, being scientist and spiritual are irrational (remark: not religious!) For me, it is absolutely rational. As starting point, I believe what is called as balance and I regard balance as perfection. Here my frame thinking:
- There is always balance in nature, positives and negatives such as dark and light, good and bad, positron and electron, hot and cold.
- Since, humans are limited being, therefore there must be “unlimited being” (personal/impersonal)
I experienced the “personality” of “The Unlimited” on 28 December, 2003 in a small gathering after 6 months scepticism of God. Since then I recognize “The Unlimited” as Jesus Christ; God, Saviour, and My Best Friend. Scientists claim that “religious experience” are human cognition by-products (Boyer, 2003) but for me, my experience is something more than “just an experience”. So far all research only mention individual spiritual experiences, in my case, somebody (inspired by The Holy Spirit) reached me and knew everything about my deep secrets and prayed for me. I do not think this “phenomenon” can be explain just by brain-by-products (read more).
Personally, I do not believe in Christianity as a religion. I do not believe Christianity as an organized religion. What matters for me is the relationship with God, Christ who lives within me. By acknowledging myself as a limited being, I could put myself down-to-earth and gain more knowledge about life. I find life more meaningful and worthy.
MY PERSONAL LOGO
Well, here I am with my personal logo (or emblem?). Just a simple one. This logo was designed by David Hartono (again). The logo has several meanings:
1. Hands, two hands pointing the sky, represent my high standards and goals in my life. Vice versa, it also represents the hands of God as my life in His hands.
2. Circle, represents, my interests in sciences as a whole part of world’s society. It also represents my worldwide networks.
3. JC or H, ambiguity of both alphabets, represents my unity “H” from Hosea and “JC” from Jesus Christ as He lives in me and guides me through my life and my goals.
4. “Dominus Illuminatio Mea” or God is My Light, adopted from Oxford University slogan, represents (again) my spiritual contemplation about my belief in God and personal characterization.
5. Pointy edge and circular in fingers, represents my character that I could be strict in certain things but still flexible. It also represents Chinese traditional roof design which means wisdom and confidence.
6. Black and white, represents balance in the nature and life as explained in my spiritual contemplations.
